Walter Arnold and Walter Komossa built DKW engined sports cars at Recklinghausen, Germany, during the early 1950s. Their 500, Scampolo, used a water cooled, two stroke DKW engine which drove through a modified DKW front wheel drive system. The car was light and nimble and performed well, winning many races through 1948, 49 and '50. Even in 1951, it was still capable of producing an occasional win. See Period Results for details of their competition history. |
