Go Back to Marques and Men PageSwebe

Racing driver Sven Andersson and baker, Bengt Peterson built two cars which were completed in 1947. The name Swebe comes from the first two letter of each of their names, Sven and Bengt, but that the spelling with w instead of v is because there were no v letters among the heap of chromed metal letters they had to hand!

The first cars had steel tube frames with front ends from Fiat and rear ends from DKW and bodies made of steel sheet. Initially they used an 800cc DKW engine but was replaced by a 500cc JAP.   Some years later they built four new cars based on the Effyh 500. These were much lighter and JAP engines were used.

At the end of the 50s Bengt Peterson also built a couple of go-karts for his son Ronnie......
