Frank Bacon was an early pioneer of 500s and a regular during 1947, '48 and '49. His first special appeared in early 1947, being one of the first half dozen cars to be completed. The first car was a front engined machine, based on an Austin Seven chassis with Rudge power through an Austin drive train, built with some assistance from Colin Strang.

Frank attended the "White Hart" meeting in May 1947, then Shelsley in June, Brough, Gransden Lodge, Great Auclum, Prescott and Shelsley again and rightly concluded that the car, as it stood, was never going to be competitive.

The FHB was re-built in early 1948 into the rear engined machine, below, powered by a JAP engine driving through a Burman gearbox. Frank achieved a number of respectable placings including a fifth at Goodwood at Easter 1949.
