Charlie Smith was a successful grass track, motorbike racer who turned his attention to 500cc cars with the first CFS Special. Charlie began working with another Battersea based engineer, Don Parker, to develop a second car but was killed in practice for a motorbike race. Don Parker took over the second car and, in modified form, it became the Parker Special. Dickie Stoop took over the CFS for 1950. This is how the car was reviewed in Iota.
