The Amal Type 27 track racing carburettor is one of the most commonly used. Early cars using gravity fed fuel will often use the associated Amal twin float bowls, however cars with fuel pumps are normally changed to larger SU float bowls due to the inability of the Amal valves to withstand the pressure of a pumped system.
